Baker Artist Awards iPhone Application Released

Fastspot is proud to announce the release of a new iPhone application developed for their client William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund’s 2010 Baker Artist Awards—an easy-to-use browsing tool for the site’s growing catalog of submissions.
The 2010 Baker Artist Awards Website encourages all Baltimore area artists working in any creative discipline to register and compete for one of two prizes—Baltimore’s Choice and the Mary Sawyers Baker Prize. By utilizing the latest Web technology, artist-nominees represent themselves through video, audio, image, and/or text submissions to the site. The online platform is designed to reach the broadest possible audience and invite their full participation.
Baker's companion iPhone application is a mobile browser that encourages users to stay up-to-date on the latest artist nominations on the 2010 Baker Artist Awards site. Users can search the competition field by browsing all nominations by image or by the artist's name. The application opens up opportunities for everyone to explore Baltimore's creative scene and the artists who live and work in Baltimore City and its five surrounding counties.

The William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund commits its resources to enhance the region's economy and quality of life by making investments in arts and culture. The Fund makes these investments in cultural resources so that all residents may participate and benefit. Its grants support artistic and cultural organizations and their partners through initiatives that enhance an individual's sense of self and pleasure and make Baltimore a more attractive place to live, work, and play.
The Fund Trustees conceived of the Baker Artist Awards to honor individual artists who live and work in Baltimore City and the five surrounding counties. The awards, the Mary Sawyers Baker Prize and Baltimore's Choice, will be made annually in March of each year. By providing unconditional financial support for emerging and well established artists, the Baker Awards will signify to the regional, national, and international community that Baltimore is a place that values its artists and rewards their work.
