Fastspot Launches Website for HistoryMiami
05.16.2011
Fastspot is proud to announce the launch of a new Website for HistoryMiami, a cultural institution in Miami, Florida.
HistoryMiami’s mission is to create community by gathering, preserving, and celebrating the stories of Miami. Founded in 1940 as an association of famous Miamians, it opened its first public museum in 1960 under the name “The Historical Museum of Southern Florida.” In 2010, its 70th anniversary, the institution was officially renamed HistoryMiami, after an extensive rebranding that sought to honor Miami’s past and look to its future.
The new Website is a big part of the rebranding effort. Fastspot worked with BrandEquity, a visual marketing and brand communications firm based in Massachusetts that developed HistoryMiami’s new brand and visual brand identity. The result is a site that is clean and modern yet friendly, combining compelling visuals and typography with an easy-to-navigate structure that invites users to explore and get involved. It highlights the institution’s major resources: the Museum, the South Florida Folklife Center, the Archives & Research Center, the Education Center, the archaeological site Miami Circle®, the City Tours program, and the annual Miami International Map Fair. The site also encourages users to attend events, take part in tours, and visit the museum’s exhibitions.
HistoryMiami's Website is powered by Fastspot's content management solution, BigTree, which allows the museum’s staff to easily tweak content and messaging, even within highly visual and interactive areas, while maintaining design consistency and site functionality. Fastspot also created a mobile version of the site that is targeted at users who are on the go and seeking quick, basic information about HistoryMiami’s location, current exhibits, and tours.
“The launch of the Website will greatly improve the virtual visitor experience and completes a major milestone in HistoryMiami’s rebranding efforts, launched April 29, 2010,” said Victoria Cervantes, Vice President of Communications at HistoryMiami. “We are thrilled with the expertise and insight that the Fastspot team brought to the project and are very proud of the end result.”
