Fastspot Wins a Pixel Award for Jambalaya
01.17.2012
The winners of the 2011 Pixel Awards have been announced, and Fastspot is one of them: Our word game app, Jambalaya, took the top prize in the Apps category.
Jambalaya—which has also won a 2011 Webby Award, among other awards—is a fast-paced word jumble game for the iPad and iPhone in which players make as many words as they can before time runs out. Users can play solo or compete with others in Apple’s Game Center.
The Pixel Award announcement was made on Friday, January 13. To celebrate the win, Fastspot is offering free downloads of Jambalaya for a limited time.
This year, Fastspot was also a finalist in the Art category for the Chrysler Museum of Art’s Website. It’s the second year that Fastspot has been honored by the Pixel Awards: Last year, Fastspot was nominated for the Web application Denote, which allows users to post notes to live Websites, and the Website of the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, which won the People’s Champ award in the non-profit category.
Fastspot is proud to be among this year’s winners, which include HUGE, Resn | Saatchi & Saatchi LA, and Odopod.
The Pixel Awards are the cutting-edge Website awards, each year honoring compelling sites that excel in design and development. Out of the many submissions received, just 120 were selected as finalists—five in each of the twenty-four categories. A panel of prestigious judges—executives, creatives, and visionaries at top agencies and Websites that work in art and design, marketing and advertising, product development and technology, and usability—evaluated the finalists, grading each site on innovation, content, navigation, visual design, functionality, and overall site experience.
