Wheaton College Website Debuts
07.21.2011
Fastspot announces the debut of the new Wheaton College Website.
Established in 1860, Wheaton College is a private, residential, interdenominational Christian liberal arts college and graduate school near Chicago. With a motto of "For Christ and His Kingdom," Wheaton combines academic rigor with a strong Christian identity. The highly selective school is known for its close-knit community, accessible and involved faculty and alumni, and ample study abroad and service opportunities. Its diverse student body includes students from all fifty states, fifty countries, and more than fifty-five church denominations.
Wheaton contacted Fastspot to refine their interactive marketing strategy and tackle their Website design, which was then implemented in the Sitecore CMS by another Wheaton partner. The new site is sophisticated yet friendly and engaging; its intuitive layout makes browsing fun and important information easy to find, and it is flexible enough to allow the school's staff to update it without losing design consistency and integrity. Visitors are immediately drawn in by the engaging features, which share students' positive experiences at Wheaton and post-graduation in their own words. Student voices are prominent throughout the site, demonstrating to prospective students that the Wheaton community is scholarly, active, and engaged with the world.
Other new areas of the site include a Media Center, with photo galleries, news and events, a link to Wheaton Magazine, and information on the members of the school's faculty that can serve as resources for the press; it also features links to WETN, Wheaton's TV and radio stations, which broadcast music, interviews, concerts, academic lectures, and chapel messages. Also, Fastspot designed a set of templates to give several of the college’s centers, including the Marion E. Wade Center and the J. Dennis Hastert Center for Economics, Government, and Public Policy, a more unique look while remaining integrated into the main site.
“We found Fastspot’s team meticulous, understanding, and responsive,” said Elisa Leberis, Director of Web Communications at Wheaton. "They worked hard at understanding the unique and varied needs of our project, ultimately producing a visual design with which we’re so pleased.”
