Accessibility, Led by People Who Do the Work 

At the center of our accessibility efforts is one of our developers, Nick, who holds certification in accessibility core competencies through the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). Nick has recently completed re-certification and continues to invest significant time in ongoing training to stay current as standards, tools, and expectations change.  That commitment shows up directly in how our agency designs, builds, and delivers work for clients. 

Accessibility is an evolving discipline. WCAG guidance changes, assistive technologies behave differently across platforms, design and development patterns that worked a few years ago can quickly become outdated. Staying effective takes more than running automated tools or referencing a checklist. 

Nick’s role includes closely tracking updates to accessibility standards, reviewing guidance from the broader accessibility community, and studying how accessibility works in real implementations. That includes understanding how screen readers interact with modern coding practices, how keyboard navigation behaves across devices, and where common issues tend to surface in websites. 

Re-certification is an important part of this process. It ensures that accessibility knowledge stays current and practical. More importantly, it reinforces the idea that accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, not a one time milestone. While Nick leads our accessibility efforts, the goal has never been to keep that knowledge siloed. Accessibility is a shared priority across our development team. Insights from Nick’s training and research are brought into internal reviews, collaboration, and everyday development work, while the broader team contributes real world experience, implementation feedback, and evolving best practices. This information exchange strengthens how we approach accessibility across projects. 

One of the hardest parts of accessibility work is translating guidelines into real decisions. Knowing what WCAG requires is only the starting point. Applying those requirements within a branded design system, a flexible CMS, or a complex content model is where experience really matters. Nick’s ongoing commitment to accessibility training reflects how our agency approaches the work. We stay current, share knowledge, and apply what we learn. For clients, that means confidence that accessibility is being handled by people who are engaged, informed, and accountable for the results.
