A Bold New Stage for a Cultural Powerhouse
Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe
As WBTT continues to grow its reputation and impact, its website needed to keep pace—both as a storytelling platform and a business tool. We designed and built a flexible, expressive new site on WordPress, blending show-stopping visuals with back-end simplicity so their team can take the lead without calling in outside help.
Project at a Glance
- Full redesign with brand-aligned visual system
- WordPress Guttenberg build replacing Joomla CMS
- PatronManager integration for ticketing and forms
- Flexible templates supporting seasons, education, and events
- Scalable content architecture and mobile-first design
Telling the Story with Sincerity
Inspired by founder Nate Jacobs’ emphasis on passion and authenticity, we created a site structure and voice that honors WBTT’s mission and personality. Every element—from homepage layout to show archives—was designed to reflect the theater’s commitment to community and excellence
Designed for the Spotlight
WBTT’s productions are visual and vibrant, so we built a design system that supports seasonal color palettes while maintaining overall cohesion. The site puts performances and performers front and center without sacrificing clarity or accessibility
Built for Control and Growth
We replaced WBTT’s rigid Joomla backend with a WordPress CMS tailored for non-technical users. Their team can now manage pages, update content, and roll out new shows without needing outside developers. Templates are flexible enough to grow with them. We ensured full integration with PatronManager for ticket sales, donations, and forms. This connection allows WBTT to manage engagement from one system, with no workarounds or double-entry
